In 2000–2001, he was a visiting researcher at University College London (U.K.). Until 1996, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at RIKEN (Japan) on the photoionization processes of highly charged ions and molecules using synchrotron radiation. Degree in atomic and molecular physics from Tokyo Metropolitan University (Japan) in 1993. Biography Naoki Watanabe received a Ph.D. His research focuses on photodissociation dynamics of molecules relevant to atmospheric chemistry and astrochemistry, and surface-reaction dynamics, including nuclear-spin conversion, with an emphasis on water ice. He joined the Institute of Low Temperature Science (ILTS) at Hokkaido University as an Assistant Professor in 2010.
